April 2012 Earnings Report

I had what I would categorize as another good month in terms of earnings.  Again, a good chunk of the revenue came from places other than adsense, so I’m happy to see that my efforts at diversification are paying off.  The breakdown for the month is as follows:

AdSense:  $67.89 ( +3% compared to last month’s $65.91)
HubPages:  $44.49 (-27.6% compared last month’s $61.42)
Squidoo:  $1.18 (-49.8% compared to last month’s $2.35)
Affiliate sales:  $13.70 (+348% over last month’s $3.06)
Book sales:  $0.61 (earnings last month were $0.0)
Total:   $127.87 (-3.7% compared to last month’s $132.74)

 Year-to-Date Income:  $392.48

AdSense is once more on top of the heap in terms of where the majority of my income is coming from.  Still, there is enough coming from other sources that I don’t feel as dependent on AdSense as I once might have.   Having decreased for the first time last month, revenue from WebAnswers resumed form and rose up to $59.05.

I was absolutely wild about the affiliate sales. It was only $13.70, but I would certainly love to have regular contributions from that arena.   Also, for the second consecutive month I had earnings from Squidoo.  It was almot a 50% decline from the previous month, but something is better than nothing (plus I’m stoked just to be earning something there).

My earnings on HubPages declined, but I’m still very excited.  I am still quite satisfied with the pace and growth of my earnings on the site.

April saw me achieve another book sale.  It’s not much ($0.61), but passive income is passive income.

Overall, I think April was another healthy month in terms of earnings.  I’m still shooting for a goal of $5 per day, which for May 2012 would mean $155 total by month’s end.  As usual, here are the sites and resources I’m using as the foundation for building my own passive income streams:

***Please note that many of the links above are affiliate links, which means that I will earn a commission if you purchase products or services via the links I have provided.  More information about these products and services is available on my Resources page.

As I say every month,  Q&A site WebAnswers is still the best earner for me on an overall basis, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to start earning online.  Also, don’t forget about the article-writing, revenue-sharing sites – HubPages, Squidoo, etc.

Also, to the extent that you are engaged in the pursuit of passive income yourself, don’t forget to promote your efforts – especially  via backlinking with social media sites, like Redgage.com  (which also pays you) and Socialadr, a bookmarking service that gets you lots of free backlinks.  (In fact, you can find more on backlinking in my article on How to Get Hundreds of Free Backlinks.)  Of course, not everything you utilize needs to be free; some items are well worth the price  – e.g., Market Samurai.
